Chonburi tame Ratchaburi for their 2nd win of season

Former champions Chonburi defeated Ratchaburi 2-1 for their only second win of the Thai League 1 season on Sunday night.

Hosts Ratchaburi got off to a fast start with Mehdi Terki opening the scoring after just four minutes.

But the Sharks equalised through Willian Lira just before the interval.

The visitors had several scoring chances early in the second half but failed to find the back of the net.

The hosts were reduced to 10 men after 54 minutes when Sanchai Nontasila received his second yellow card for a foul on Channarong Promsrikaew.

It was Channarong who scored the winner for Chonburi in the 84th minute.

In Sunday's other match, hosts Nakhon Pathom United could only get one point after squandering a two-goal lead against Sukhothai.

Arthit Berg gave the Tigers the lead in the sixth minute and Taku Ito made it 2-0 in the 16th minute.

But the Fire Bats fought back and Nelson Bonilla cut the deficit to 2-1 after 40 minutes before John Baggio earned a point for the visitors five minutes after the restart.

Tough task for Rabbits

Thai League 1 side BG Pathum United aim to get their first point in Group I of the AFC Champions League when they meet Kawasaki Frontale in Japan today.

But it will be a difficult task for the Rabbits who lost 4-2 to the J-League 1 giants at home in their previous game.

Pathum have also lost to former ACL champions Ulsan Hyundai of South Korea and Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim.

After three games, Kawasaki are leaders with nine points, followed by Ulsan who have six and Johor on three.

BG will be led by former Frontale star Chanathip Songkrasin.

"We are looking forward to the game," said BG coach Thongchai Sukkokee.

"Two weeks ago, we played well [against Kawasaki] but we lacked consistency and stamina."
