The couple, who have a 16-year-old son Brad, and a daughter, Blair, 13, released similar statements on their respective Instagram accounts last night (May 2), saying that they have been living apart for two years.

"After careful consideration and communication, we have decided to divorce. This decision is inevitable and difficult... Grateful that we have supported each other and worked hard for the family. We give each other our greatest blessings,” read their announcement.

The news came as a surprise as they were once deemed as a model couple in Hong Kong's showbiz scene.

Roger and Cindy met while filming a travel show in 1999 and tied the knot in Hong Kong Disneyland in 2006.

Cindy faded out of the limelight after marriage to focus on taking care of her family, and later pursued a master’s degree in nutrition.

The couple has been through their fair share of ups and downs over the years.

In 2016, Roger fell into depression while filming TVB drama Dead Wrong. He played a man who was trapped in the mountains for 10 years and obsessed with seeking revenge.

The couple grew apart and often argued over how they should raise their children. Things got so bad that Roger contemplated divorce.

They managed to rekindle the relationship by spending more quality time as couple.
