Afghanistan will host the second-string Pakistan team for a three-match T20I series. After a grueling international calendar followed by a month-long Pakistan Super League (PSL), a few first-choice players including captain Babar Azam, wicket-keeper batter Mohammad Rizwan and pace duo of Shaheen Afridi and Haris Rauf have been rested. Leg-spinner Shadab Khan will lead a second-string side, that is full of stars from the 2023 edition of the Pakistan Super League.

For Afghanistan, this will be the second T20I assignment since the T20 World Cup, under new captain Rashid Khan. Rashid-led Afghanistan side beat the UAE 2-1 in a three-match T20I series in February, however, Pakistan will pose a tougher challenge. Apart from Shadab himself, the visiting side includes a returning Imad Wasim, explosive batters like Muhammad Haris, wicket-keeper Azam Khan and new pace sensation Ihsan Ullah.
