Afghanistan vs Bangladesh Live Score, T20 World Cup 2024 Match Today: Riding on their captain Rashid Khan’s fantastic cameo, Afghanistan have managed to post 115/5 at the end of their 20 overs against Bangladesh in their last Super Eight match at the St Vincent on Tuesday. Rashid scored a brisk 10-ball 19, including three sixes to help his team reach a respectable total.

However, the rain might play a spoilsport as it has gotten heavier after the last ball was bowled. The groundsmen were quick to bring in the covers. Bangladesh, however, will be happy with their effort with the ball. They didn’t allow the Afghan batters to get away and have restricted them to 115.

Opting to bat first, Rahmanullah Gurbaz and Ibrahim Zadran got Afghanistan off to a steady start. They played cautiously as those weren’t easy conditions to bat. The Bangladesh bowlers bowled tight lines and lengths and barring those three sixes at the fag end from Rashid, the Bangladesh batters never got going.

Scenarios

If there won’t be any cricket due to rain, Afghanistan will qualify for the semifinals. Bangladesh will have to chase down the total in 12.1 overs in order to surpass Australia and Afghanistan in terms of net run rate and head into the semifinals.

MOMENTS AFTER Afghanistan’s historic 21-run win over Australia in the Super 8 game of the T20 World Cup at Kingstown, a video cropped up on the team’s social media account that conveyed what the conquest meant for the nation that has historically seen many invasions.

The clip had captain Rashid Khan, 25, and Man of the Match Gulbadin Naib, 33, passionately belting out a Pashto verse. There were no subtitles. Maybe, there was no need as this was the team’s two old hands talking directly to the fans back home.

Kandahar-born Delhi University PhD student and cricket fan Nazamudin Asar, after sharing his excitement over his team’s chances of making it to the semifinal from a group that has India and Australia, translated the verse. “’Roll up your sleeves, come celebrate and dance. Poor people like us rarely get the chance to enjoy as happiness belongs to those who are strong and rich…’ That’s what they were singing, that’s exactly what Afghanistan feels today,” Asar said, before adding a typical self-deprecating Afghan touch. “Everyone is on the streets. Last time this happened was when there was an earthquake.” (READ MORE)
