Bangladesh vs Afghanistan, 2nd T20I, Afghanistan tour of ...

Commentary

Bangladesh have capped off another series win at home. They had to suffer a few glitches but did cover the bases pretty well. Shakib and his side would be pretty chuffed. The home crowd really got behind them and acted as the 12th man for the home team. They were in a flux couple of times during the T20Is but managed to wriggle out of it. That is it from this closely contested T20I series. We will be back with more cricketing action.

The Bangladesh players pose in front of the WINNER board. They deserve it. They have played the crucial moments better.

Shakib Al Hasan | Player of the Match and Series: We lost a couple of wickets in the middle. The outfield made it hard for the spinners to bowl. We had the belief we will chase it down. In the day time, it was dry. There was seam and bounce for the seamers. Today was a day when me and the coaching staff wanted to give the younger guys a chance. But I had to come in. Most of these guys are playing ODI cricket from this squad. They will look to take confidence into the Asia Cup and then the World Cup.

Rashid Khan | Afghanistan captain: We wouldn't want to make an excuse. Was a good wicket to bowl in the second innings. Part of the game if the rain comes in. One should know the role and know the capacity. One should control their emotions a little as well. We lack a little in that aspect. We are trying to get it right ahead of the World Cup. Wanted to stay in the game till the last ball. Tried to put in 100 percent effort.

22:37 Local Time, 16:37 GMT, 22:07 IST: Another last over game. But Bangladesh always had it in control. Shakib played a superb cameo under pressure and was helped by Towhid after the openers had set up an excellent platform trying to track down 119. Litton and Afif had added 67 for the opening wicket. But then three wickets fell in two overs. Shakib guided Towhid and that partnership calmed the nerves and brought down the rate considerably. Earlier, Taskin bowled an excellent first spell to peg back Afghanistan. Then rain hijacked the scene for close to 90-odd minutes. But once it relented, Afghanistan only managed 116 in 17 overs. Like the first game, Afghanistan left a few runs in the middle and that didn't help them in their defence. Stay tuned for the presentation...

16.1 Wafadar Momand to Shamim Hossain, FOUR, Bangladesh take the series 2-0! That was dropped short, Shamim Hossain stayed back and pulled it down to deep mid for a four. Was hammered away on to the on-side. They won the Test, stumbled in the ODIs and have won the T20I series

Wafadar Momand [2.0-0-26-0] is back into the attack

Final over. Four runs needed. Bangladesh need four to make it 2-0. The debutant Wafadar will bowl the final over.

BAN: 115-4 after 16 overs

15.6 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Shakib, 2 runs, fuller ball, the batter backs away and creams it through the off-side. The throw from deep cover is a weak one and Shakib was running like a hare. He makes it easily. Rashid is livid. The keeper has agony on his face as well. Only four needed now

15.5 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Shamim Hossain, 1 run, right up there, outside off, the batter jams it down into the off-side and scampers off. The batter dives at the bowler's end and makes it. No direct hit as well. Bangladesh one hit away now. Shakib on strike

15.4 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Shakib, 1 run, looks to loft a length delivery and gets it off the inside edge on to the on-side for a single

15.3 Fazalhaq Farooqi to Shakib, no run, low full toss, dips into the batter, Shakib slices it to the man at point

BAN: 109-4 after 15 overs

14.6 Azmatullah to Shamim Hossain, 1 run, looks to biff it down the ground but cue-ends it down to mid-on for a single. The man at mid-on had a shy and missed. Shamim Hossain would have made it in time I feel even if there was a direct hit

14.5 Azmatullah to Shamim Hossain, no run, fuller delivery, on the pads, clipped away to the man at mid-wicket

14.5 Azmatullah to Shamim Hossain, wide, looks to heave one down leg and misses. Wided
