Premier League: Evanilson strikes late as Bournemouth draw at ...
Evanilson turned in a 97th-minute header as Bournemouth salvaged a stunning late draw against Aston Villa in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Brazilian came off the bench and headed home in added time to cancel out Ross Barkley's earlier goal - who opened his goalscoring account on his second spell at the club.
The England international thought he had come to The Villain’s rescue when he scrappily turned in Leon Bailey’s cross in the 76th minute to break down a stubborn Bournemouth defence.
But with seconds left on the clock, Bournemouth won a free-kick on the left flank which was swung in by Marcus Tavernier, and Evanlison did the rest as he steered his header beyond Emiliano Martinez.
Villa had thought they had taken the lead in the first half when John McGinn curled a beauty beyond Mark Travers on the half-hour mark, but VAR ruled it out as the ball had gone out of play in the build-up.
Jacob Ramsey overhit a cross, which Ollie Watkins tried to keep in play on the byline before setting up McGinn to wrap his left foot around a deadly effort, but VAR determined that the ball had run out of play.
Despite the sucker punch at the end of the game, Villa are now 10 matches unbeaten in all competitions and have moved up to third in the table.

There was more late drama at the Gtech Community Stadium in West London, as Bryan Mbeumo bagged a brace to earn the Bees a dramatic 4-3 win over Ipswich.
Sammie Szmodics gave the Premier League newcomers a dream start with the opener after 28 minutes, before George Hirst quickly added to the lead with his first top-flight goal.
Yoane Wissa pulled a goal back with the hosts’ first shot on target, and Thomas Frank’s side were level on the stroke of half-time just two minutes later through a Harry Clarke own goal.
Mbeumo put Brentford ahead for the first time from the penalty spot after the break, and then Town right-back Clarke’s torrid afternoon continued when he was sent off for a second yellow card in the 69th minute.
Ipswich thought they had earned a stunning draw when Liam Delap equalised with four minutes of normal time left, but Mbeumo’s deep delivery in the 96th minute evaded everyone, before nestling into the far corner for three points.
The visitors almost equalised for a second time in the 98th minute, but Delap’s late effort crashed off the bar in a thrilling end to the game.

Danny Welbeck was on target for the second week in a row, but his excellent goalscoring form could not earn Brighton three points against Wolves.
The former Arsenal striker put The Seagulls ahead for his sixth goal of the season, and substitute Evan Ferguson thought he had wrapped up the points for the hosts as he doubled their advantage in the 86th minute.
Wolves - who were undone late on against Manchester City last week - put on a late show of their own as Rayan Ait Nouri equalised two minutes later before Matheus Cunha dramatically stole a point in the 93rd minute.
