Key storylines & star players

Leon Bailey will be looking to make amends for the penalty he conceded in a 1-1 draw with West Ham. Bailey’s looked quite good under Unai Emery, and his connection with in-form and sneaky postseason honors candidate Ollie Watkins could prove vital to this game and the top-half charge.

Philip Billing looks the sort of leader that can help prod a big finish out of Bournemouth, who has in Dango Outtara the electric injection it wanted from the January transfer market. Neto will matter quite a bit, too, for a team which is still conceding chances.

Wolves host Leeds in a massive relegation six-pointer at Molineux on Saturday as both teams are under pressure and out of form.

STREAM LIVE WOLVES vs LEEDS

It looked like Julen Lopetegui had steered Wolves well away from the relegation scrap but a run of one win in five games, which included a narrow defeat at Newcastle last time out, has them in trouble once again as they are just three points above the bottom three. Scoring goals remains the biggest problem for Wolves as they are the joint-lowest scorers in the PL.

Javi Gracia is making Leeds tougher to beat but they are now in the relegation zone and are one point from safety with 12 games to go after a run of one win in their last 13. Leeds battled back to draw 2-2 at home against Brighton last week but they have won just five games all season long, the fewest in the Premier League.

CLOSE! Another incredible block from Leeds as Wober blocks the shot from Semedo and then Podence sends an acrobatic effort over. A fine cross from Kilman to set up that chance. Leeds are defending superbly. Wolves knocking on the door.

A rainbow in the skies above Molineux as the rain has passed a little. Wolves continue to create chances but Leeds are holding firm. For now.

OFF THE LINE! After Daniel Podence was denied by Illan Meslier, a rebound from Pedro Neto cleared off the line by Max Wober. Wolves pushing hard for the equalizer.

Junior Firpo has caught Nelson Semedo in the box and VAR are checking for a possible penalty kick…but not penalty is given.

GOALLL! Brilliant start for Leeds as Wilfried Gnonto runs down the left and picks out a perfect cross for the arriving Jack Harrison who smashes home. Wolves 0-1 Leeds and the away fans go wild.

What a start for Leeds United!

Jack Harrison has a goal in back-to-back matches and Leeds move OUT of the relegation zone as things stand.

KICK OFF: We are underway at Molineux and there is a great atmosphere for this relegation six-pointer. Massive game for both of these teams.

Key storylines & in-form players to watch

Wolves are looking much better under Lopetegui but they just can’t climb clear of the intense relegation scrap. They are defensively sound and have quality all over the pitch but for several seasons scoring goals has become a big problem for them. They need the likes of Raul Jimenez and Daniel Podence to regain their form. Fast.

Leeds are a bit all over the place. They are definitely better at the back under Javi Gracia but he is trying to play a more patient, possession-based style and a lot of the players signed by previous manager Jesse Marsch just aren’t used to playing that system. There is a notion that this Leeds team is too good to go down but when you look at their remaining games, they are in serious danger of relegation.

Southampton host Tottenham at St Mary’s on Saturday in a huge game for both teams as they’re scrapping away to reach their target.

STREAM LIVE SOUTHAMPTON v TOTTENHAM

Ruben Selles saw his Saints side put in a limp performance as they lost 2-0 at home to Brentford on Wednesday and missed the chance to climb out of the relegation zone for the first time since November. Southampton are just two points from safety heading into this game but time is running out for the Saints to save themselves and they have a very tough remaining schedule.

Tottenham are hanging in the top four battle and after winning three of their last four games in the Premier League they are in fourth place. They have a four-point cushion over fifth-place Newcastle but the latter have two games in-hand over Spurs. Antonio Conte’s future remains up in the air and Harry Kane and Co. are in a familiar last-season scramble to qualify for the UEFA Champions League as another trophyless season has arrived for Tottenham.

Key storylines & in-form players to watch

Saints are scrapping away and recent wins against Chelsea and Leicester, plus a draw at Manchester United, has given them hope of staying up. They have been terrible at home this season though, winning just twice and they have the worst home record in the Premier League. They have also scored just twice in their five league games under Ruben Selles and although they are improving defensively, there is a real lack of quality in the final third.

Tottenham are relying on Harry Kane to once again propel them to a top four finish and even Heung-min Son was on the scoresheet last week as they beat Nottingham Forest comfortably. Conte has shown signs he is willing to take more risks in attack and Richarlison took his chance to start last weekend. It will be intriguing to see how Conte sets Spurs up as they are heavy favorites against Southampton.

High-flying Brentford host struggling Leicester at the Gtech Community Stadium on Saturday as the Bees are chasing their European dreams.

STREAM LIVE BRENTFORD v LEICESTER

Thomas Frank’s side beat Southampton 2-0 in midweek to get back to winning ways. They were on a 12-game unbeaten run before their shock defeat at Everton last weekend but Ivan Toney grabbed a goal and an assist against Saints to keep Brentford in the hunt for European qualification. The Bees actually have a chance of challenging for a top four finish. Remarkable.

Leicester City would love to be in that position but this season Brendan Rodgers is watching on in horror as the Foxes have been sucked back into the relegation scrap. Their talented squad is struggling for confidence and they’ve lost four straight games, including a home battering against Chelsea last weekend. They’re only out of the bottom three on goal difference heading into this weekend.

Key storylines & in-form players to watch

This Brentford fairytale shows no signs of ending anytime soon. Ivan Toney continues to bang in the goals, they are so tough to play against and the job Thomas Frank has done makes him a serious contender for Premier League manager of the season. The Bees are full of confidence, play with no fear and are incredible at home. The west London side have such a small budget and continue to punch well above their weight.

Leicester are in freefall and all season long they’ve been a very streaky team. At the moment they are relying heavily on James Maddison to drag them out of trouble but he can’t do it all on his own. Defensively they are making big mistakes and they are being overrun in midfield and their strikers aren’t finishing the chances Maddison is creating. All of that adds up to big problems for the Foxes. Surely they have too much quality to go down? Maybe not.

USMNT star Christian Pulisic has lambasted the situation surrounding allegations against Gregg Berhalter made by the family of Giovanni Reyna, declaring it as “extremely childish.”

Berhalter was investigated by U.S. Soccer after Danielle Reyna, mother of disciplined USMNT phenom Giovanni, told USSF director Earnie Stewart about a 1991 domestic violence incident between the then North Carolina player and his now-wife.

[ MORE: U.S. Soccer releases report on Berhalter investigation ]

Berhalter had acknowledged his role in a violent incident with Rosalind Berhalter in 1991, an admission that came shortly after college friend Danielle Reyna reported it to the federation.

The investigation revealed that both Claudio and Danielle Reyna threatened to speak out on the 1991 incident due to discontent with Gio’s playing time at the World Cup and subsequent drama caused by Berhalter speaking publicly about Giovanni Reyna’s poor reaction to being told he would not feature for the team in Qatar.

Christian Pulisic: Berhalter position ‘extremely unfortunate’ (video)

Video was leaked and then amplified by Alexi Lalas of an interview between Graham Hunter and Chelsea forward Pulisic, and the USMNT star laments the actions of the Reynas and the plight of Berhalter while also seeming to be critical of plans to conduct a long search for the next USMNT coach.

Hunter asked Berhalter whether the USMNT should be making such a long search to replace (or rehire) the coach:

“For me it’s an interesting one because I’m not here to appoint the next manager. Whoever it is, I’m gonna give 100 percent but in my opinion everything that happened with Gregg was handled in an extremely childish manner. We’ve all seen what’s been going on. It’s childish. It’s youth soccer, people complaining about playing time. I don’t want to go too far into it, but that’s what we’ll see.

“Gregg has been extremely unfortunate to even get into the position he’s in now. Do I feel like we should just wait and wait? I don’t think it’s necessary because we’re not in phase like we were in after not qualifying for the last World Cup where we need a complete rebuild. We don’t need a bunch of new guys coming in. We have a strong corps, and a lot of people have seen that, and we need to carry on with that. It’s a tough one for me because I think we just want to continue that as soon as we can and build off this World Cup which had a lot of positives in it.”

It sounds like Pulisic would’ve been okay with Berhalter staying on as USMNT coach but now feels the program will suffer if the future of the position isn’t sorted quickly — perhaps with Berhalter still in the role. Read deeper, he may just want him hired outright.

Here’s what Pulisic said when asked if he would welcome Berhalter if rehired by the federation.

“Yeah, no doubt, no doubt about it,” Pulisic said. “I think the strides that we’ve taken in recent years with him in charge, have been evident. I think it’s quite clear.”
