The match between Atalanta and Como scheduled for the fifth round of Serie A fixtures has been postponed and rescheduled, and will now be played on Tuesday 24 September, kicking off at 19.45 BST.

Atalanta vs Como rescheduled for Tuesday

Atalanta-Como, originally scheduled to kick off at 19.45 on Monday evening, was called off, called back on again and then definitively postponed in a hectic hour at the Gewiss Stadium.

Continuous, torrential rain in the Bergamo area waterlogged the Gewiss Stadium pitch, which made the match unsafe to play.

There was a last-minute pitch inspection just before the originally scheduled kick-off time (19.45). Referee Paride Tremolada decided to delay proceedings by half an hour, and called for another inspection at 20.15.

The ground staff put an incredible effort together to clear the pitch in the little time they had available, with the rain still pouring above them. Shortly after 20.15, it was confirmed that the game could go ahead, beginning at 20.45.

However, a final inspection was carried out at 20.45. As more heavy rain had soaked the Gewiss Stadium pitch, the surface was no longer playable and the game was definitively called off.

Atalanta have since confirmed that the game will now go ahead 24 hours after the originally scheduled kick-off time, at 19.45 BST on Tuesday evening.
