Vincent Kompany pleased with Bayern Munich's team performance ...
Bayern Munich’s away trip to Holstein Kiel in the Bundesliga could have been quite the banana skin for Vincent Kompany’s side. It was the first match back after the September international break and the match was against the side that knocked them out of the DFB-Pokal just a few short seasons ago, but the Rekordmeister handedly took care of business at Holstein-Stadion to stay at the top of the Bundesliga table on nine points. It has now been three wins out of three in the Bundesliga for the new Belgian manager.
Harry Kane bagged yet another Bayern hat-trick in the 6-1 win; a match in which Jamal Musiala scored inside of the first minute and Kompany’s side went into the halftime interval up 4-0. Aside from the four goals between Kane and Musiala, Michael Olise bagged his first Bayern and Bundesliga goal while an own goal from Kiel’s Nicolai Remberg rounded out the scoring for the 32-time Bundesliga champions.
For Kompany, it was just the type of dominant performance he would have called for ahead of their first match in the Champions League at the Allianz Arena against Dinamo Zagreb. Despite winning and cementing their place at the top of the Bundesliga table, Kompany was just pleased with the overall mentality and focus his side showed, while having the added bonus of being able to make some earlier substitutions to help preserve some freshness ahead of the busy weeks to come.
“We’re not looking at the table right now. Today was a good win and a good performance. It’s important to win for the mentality. The mentality was there right from the start of pre-season. We saw today that we have a good squad, we have to carry on. It was ideal to lead 4-0 at half time, which allowed us to think of Tuesday and make some subs. I hope everyone stays fit, that’s the most important thing,” the manager explained (via @iMiaSanMia).

For Kompany, with a perfect record thus far from four competitive matches, there has not been reason yet for his critics to lash out at him, but he said that he is not bothered by all of the outside noise regardless. He is just focused on the squad and having them as prepared as possible for every given match.
“For me the most important thing is the players. What’s happening around the club is not important to me. My role is to work with my players. When we win and play well I’m happy. When we don’t, I don’t sleep well. Otherwise, I sleep well no matter what happens [around the club],” he stressed after the big win over Holstein Kiel (via @iMiaSanMia).
