The wheel of fortune at long last is in favour of the 23-year-old English winger Jadon Sancho, as he makes an impressive comeback to the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund after Manchester United horror-spell.

Sancho made his second Bundesliga debut with Dortmund in their 3-0 win against SV Darmstadt 96 on Saturday. The English winger came onto the field at the 55th minute of the game and, within 22 minutes of his involvement, produced a sublime assist to Marco Reus to increase their lead by 2-0.

"Feels great just to be happy again, to be on the pitch and to help the team. Ever since I've come back I have felt at home and I'm just happy to be back on the pitch again," said Sancho on his return to Dortmund.

The expectations were high for Sancho after his grand return to Dortmund, following a forgetful two years at Manchester United. Sancho's problem-filled United spell turned worse after the player ended up with him being suspended from playing, following a spat with United manager Erik ten Hag.

"I've got personal goals which I'm not going to say for now. I just want to help the team and I'm very positive about the second half of the season. We kept a clean sheet which was really important and we just take it game by game. The team have objectives and I'm sure we'll do well if we fight every game," Sancho on his return to Dortmund.

As his frustration grew at United, Sancho has been pushing for a move away from the club, with his former side Dortmund ultimately bagging the player on a six-month loan deal. Sancho showed his excitement after the Darmstadt match, saying "it was meant to be".

"It was meant to be, coming back and seeing Marco again. He's a great friend of mine and I'm happy to set up his goal," Sancho, told Sky Germany on his Bundesliga return.

Sancho joined Dortmund at the age of 17 in 2017, which was followed by a four-year spell at the club that included a German Cup win in 2021. He then moved to United for 73 million euros, a move which was being considered by many as a signing for the future at United. However, the player was unable to score goals in his tenure at the club, bagging only 9 goals in his 58 appearances.

The matter got worse after the winger got into a spat with United manager Erik ten Hag, who questioned the player's level at training. Sancho has not featured for United in a single match since August 2023. Fortunately, the Dortmund move has given him the chance he longed for.
