Bundesliga clubs have been busy this summer and with the season fast approaching, Get German Football News has decided to look at five signings from this summer you should watch out for.

A move across Swabia

Ermedin Demirović has been in the Bundesliga for a while but with rather uneventful spells at RB Leipzig and Freiburg best characterised by his penalty miss in the 2022 DFB Pokal final. Then later that summer he was part of a swap move that saw Michael Gregoritsch move to Freiburg and Demirović move to Augsburg. His first season at the WWK Arena was uneventful as he scored eight and assisted four in 30 Bundesliga games.

However, it was last season where he scored 15 and assisted nine in 33 games for a bang-average Augsburg side that finished 11th. This prompted Stuttgart to break their transfer record for the Germany-born Bosnian international to replace Serhou Guirassy as their striker.

How will he fit in at Stuttgart

Demirović has big boots to fill when it comes to replacing Guirassy who is coming off a 30-goal season at the club. Statistically, Demirović is worse than his predecessor in ever attacking category. The positive for the 26-year-old is that he is moving to a team that is a lot better at creating chances than Augsburg. Looking at FBref, last Stuttgart had 28.2 shot-creating actions per 90, while Augsburg had 21.4. Stuttgart were also better in every attack such as shots p90.

Then when using your eyes, Demirović’s performance in the Super Cup against Bayer Leverkusen was also impressive as he had a great chance to give Stuttgart the lead only to hit the post after defending from Piero Hincapié while he was also key in Enzo Millot hitting the crossbar.

On top of this, Stuttgart also possess much better players who will be able to provide service for Demirović. German internationals such as his striker partner upfront Deniz Undav, Chris Führich on the wing and at full-back Maximilian Mittelstädt are better than any of the Augsburg players that were Demirović’s teammates last season.

Lucikyl for Demirović, the striker burden will not be solely on him after Undav’s permanent arrival as well as the impending arrival of El Bilal Touré. This will give him time to catch up with how Sebastian Hoeneß plays, while also meaning the demands on him will not be so great in the initial months at the MHP Arena.

What was seen during the Super Cup suggests that once he settles in at Stuttgart, Demirović will be a problem combining with Undav.
