Harry Kane reached 50 Bundesliga goals in Bayern Munich’s 3-0 win over Augsburg on 22 November, thanks to his second-half hat-trick.

After penalty goals in the 63rd minute and three minutes into added time at the end of game, Kane completed his hat-trick in the 95th-minute to reach 50 goals in the competition with an excellent touch and finish at the Allianz Arena.

It was just his 43rd appearance in the German top flight, meaning that he broke the record previously held by Erling Haaland for the fewest games to reach the 50-goal landmark in the Bundesliga. Haaland had managed 50 goals in his first 50 games while at Borussia Dortmund, but Kane has managed it in seven appearances fewer.

Kane’s treble also means that he broke the Bayern Munich record in the Bundesliga for the fewest appearances to 50 goals. That was previously held by Robert Lewandowski, who reached 50 goals for Bayern in 64 Bundesliga appearances. The great Gerd Müller did it in 83 appearances, which was longer than it took both Roy Makaay (67) and Mario Gomez (71) at the record German champions.

The England captain now has 20 goals in all competitions for Bayern this season, becoming the first player across the top five European leagues to this landmark in 2024-25. It was also his fourth hat-trick of 2024-25 already, following previous trebles against Holstein Kiel and VfB Stuttgart in the league and another versus Dinamo Zagreb in the UEFA Champions League.

Overall, Kane now has 21 hat-tricks at club level, with eight coming at Bayern Munich following his 13 at Tottenham Hotspur. Seven of his trebles have come in the Bundesliga, meaning he now needs just one more to equal his tally from the Premier League (8).

Last season saw Kane break the Bundesliga record for the most goals by a player in their first season in the competition (36). He’s already scored 14 goals in 11 league games this season. That’s three fewer than at this stage in 2023-24 (17) as he aims to break the all-time seasonal scoring record in the Bundesliga, held by Lewandowski for Bayern in 2020-21 (41).
