German men’s soccer’s top-tier Bundesliga will be covered in Indonesia through 2024-25 by the MNC media group.

Through a deal unveiled earlier today, MNC has snapped up free-to-air (FTA), pay-TV, and streaming rights to the 18-team Bundesliga, for which the 2024-25 campaign gets under way today as Borussia Mönchengladbach take on champions Bayer Leverkusen.

All nine fixtures will be broadcast each gameweek, with up to four of those to be made available FTA, including via the RCTI channel.

Pay-TV and streaming coverage, meanwhile, will be provided by outlets including KVision, direct-to-home service MNC Vision, and Vision+ (an over-the-top platform).

Since 2020, Bundesliga action has been covered in Indonesia by commercial broadcaster Mola TV.

In addition to the live rights snapped up by MNC, that group’s channels will also have access to over 60,000 minutes of shoulder programming each season provided by the Bundesliga’s International Product Portfolio scheme.

The two parties will also collaborate, meanwhile, through a marketing strategy “that includes fan watch parties, out of home campaigns and money-can’t-buy prizes.”

In terms of existing Bundesliga activity in Indonesia, the league entered into a memorandum of understanding with the Football Association of Indonesia in June last year.

Peer Naubert, chief marketing officer at Bundesliga International, has now said: “In MNC, we have a partner that shares our vision, and we are looking forward to working hand-in-hand with them to deliver all the goals, excitement and drama of the Bundesliga to fans each week."

Over recent weeks and months, deals covering the top German league have been announced in Brazil, Spain, sub-Saharan Africa, and Poland.

Domestic live coverage this upcoming season, meanwhile, will be provided by a combination of Sky Deutschland, Sport1, Sat1, and DAZN

Hary Tanoesoedibjo, MNC Group’s executive chair, added: “This deal marks a significant milestone in our commitment to delivering world-class sports content and enhancing the viewing experience for our audience. The Bundesliga’s teams have captivated soccer enthusiasts globally, and we are proud to make it accessible to millions of passionate fans here in Indonesia.”

MNC and Mola TV are two of the primary sports rightsholders in Indonesia, as is international heavyweight BeIN Sports.

MNC recently provided coverage of the men’s national team UEFA European Championships in Germany.
