Celine Dion cancels 2023 concert tour; struggling with Stiff Person ...

Celine Dion is canceling the European leg of his Courage World Tour.

The initial plan, based on her Instagram post dated December 8, 2022, was to postpone her 2023 shows to 2024 due to “problems with my health.”

Her caption then mentioned, “It hurts me to tell you that I won’t be ready to restart my tour in Europe in February.”

Today, May 27, 2023, she announced the cancellation. '

Her statement on her website and social media accounts read: “I’m so sorry to disappoint all of you once again. I’m working really hard to build back my strength, but touring can be very difficult even when you’re 100%.

"It’s not fair to you to keep postponing the shows, and even though it breaks my heart, it’s best that we cancel everything now until I’m really ready to be back on stage again.

"I want you all to know, I’m not giving up… and I can’t wait to see you again!” – Celine xx…”

CELINE DION’S STRUGGLES WITH STIFF PERSON SYNDROME

The 55-year-old performer has been been diagnosed with a rare, progressive neurological disorder called Stiff Person Syndrome, which causes muscle stiffness and painful muscle spasms.

In the video she posted on Instagram last December, Celine revealed that her condition affects “every aspect of my daily life, sometimes causing difficulties when I walk and not allowing me to use my vocal cords to sing the way I’m used to.”

Trying to hold back her tears, she continued, “All I know is singing. It’s what I’ve done all my life and it’s what I love to do the most.”

Unfortunately, according to YaleMedicine.org, the spasms “can be triggered by environmental stimuli (like loud noises) or emotional stress.”

Dion said in the video that she has a “great team of doctors” and a sports therapist helping her keep the symptoms under control, but, “I have to admit it’s been a struggle.”

A number of Pinoys had to chance to see Celine Dion perform live in July 2018.

But she is best known for the hits—“My Heart Will Go On,” “To Love You More,” “Because You Loved Me,” “It’s All Coming Back To Me Now,” and “The Prayer”—that are staples in videoke sessions and singing contests.
