Chelsea vs Brighton LIVE: All of the action from Stamford Bridge
Welcome to football.london's live coverage of Chelsea vs Brighton. The sides are playing for a place in the fourth round of the Carabao Cup at Stamford Bridge, with the Blues in desperate need of a win to help kickstart their season.
Mauricio Pochettino's side have not tasted victory in competitive action against Brighton since September 2020, but did come away 4-3 victors in a dramatic pre-season encounter in the United States. The two teams have seen a budding rivalry grow as the west London side have recruited plenty of talent from the south coast, but it's Brighton who are flying high and competing in European football this term.
The Seagulls have won five of their opening six Premier League matches to sit third in the league table while Chelsea have picked up just five points in the same period of time. The home side will hope that former Brighton stars Robert Sanchez and Moises Caicedo, both set to start, can help earn a win.
Join Scott Trotter and Bobby Vincent for all of the build up, analysis and reaction to this evening's game with kick-off at 7.45pm.

Off but no replacement. Cucurella goes on thhe left.
21:35Scott Trotter
Brighton fire over the bar. Boos ringing for the referee after a foul not given. Chilwell down from the challenge.
21:34Scott Trotter
Pochhettino couldn't believe an offside decision. How he got one and Cucurella/Caicedo didn't in thhe first half im not sure.
21:33Scott Trotter
Squeaky bum time anyone?
21:29Scott Trotter
Broja heads on for Jackson.
21:25Scott Trotter
Jackson is back on the pitch and playing now and Chelsea are remaining a bit more discplined, with Brighton finding it more difficult to find a way through.
21:21Scott Trotter
He's holding his wrist after being brought down on the halfway mark.
21:17Scott Trotter
Gallagher and Fernandez replace Palmer and Maatsen.
21:16Scott Trotter
Big Brighton chhance. Solly March with the free header but Sanchez is up to it.
21:15Scott Trotter
Jackson has the ball in the net but the offside flag was up. The crowd had loved it too.
21:10Scott Trotter
Mudryk heads off to an applause for Sterling to come on.
21:08Scott Trotter
From Brighton fans anyway but not inclination from the referee after a good challenge from Colwill.
21:05Scott Trotter
Can Jackson make it two? It's saved. There was more conviction in that attack from the Blues however with Mudryk pressing Brighton back.
21:02Scott Trotter
Nice to hear some noise in Stamford Bridge that isn't Brighton booing a former player. The Blues still showing some sloppy moments to let Brighton in but the visitors are giving away plenty of free kicks in their own half too.
20:54Scott Trotter
It's Maatsen to Palmer on the edge of the box. The new signing pauses before slotting a little pass to Jackson who coolly finishes. That's more like it.
20:50Scott Trotter
A bad start for Cucurella who twice lets Brighton in and works hard in a bid to recover. Looking vulnerable though.
20:48KEY EVENT
Brighton kick us off.
20:47Scott Trotter
Jackson and Palmer in deep conversation, Sanchez getting quite the reception with Brighton fans now at his back.
20:32KEY EVENT
More of the same for Chelsea. A lot of pressure at times but no end product. Yet again, no goal at Stamford Bridge. 0-0 at the break with Brighton on top.
20:20Bobby Vincent
Sanchez continues to look shaky against his former club. The Spaniard's pass is once again intercepted, but he manages to save well in the end.
20:14Bobby Vincent
Chelsea want a penalty after Nicolas Jackson goes down in the box after a challenge from Carlos Baleba, but the referee waves it away. No VAR tonight.
20:09Bobby Vincent
Robert Sanchez makes a huge mistake where he passes the ball straight to Joao Pedro. The Brazilian, however, somehow misses. Best chance of the game by a mile.
20:05Bobby Vincent
The visitors are growing into the game at Stamford Bridge and are beginning to see more possession – as you'd expect, really.
19:58Bobby Vincent
Cole Palmer and Mykhailo Mudryk are showing signs of strong link-up play. Some positive attacking signs for Chelsea.
19:53Bobby Vincent
Some early pressure from the Blues without creating anything clear-cut so far. But encouraging signs early on at the Bridge.
Need to make it count – as we well know.
