took to social media on Saturday and announced that he is looking to copyright the character.Phillip Bankss mentioned that he would be taking action against for-profit institutions if they planned to use the character without his permission.
Banks initially posted the photo meme on his Instagram on October 4 and the caption read, "His whole deal is he's a chill guy that lowkey doesn't give a fu*k." And the meme has now made $405 million after being turned into a crypto token.While the viral meme was used by netizens all over the world on social media platforms, his artwork gained recognition and even Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi and El Salvador's President Nayib Bukele also featured the “chill guy” on their official X account. However, it became an issue after the crypto market launched a new crypto coin using the chill guy as the token logo and managed to make a huge turnover on day 1 which led Phillip Bankss to claim rights for his creative work. Hailing from North Carolina, Phillip Bankss is a digital artist with over 20,000 followers on Instagram and 60,000 on X, he often shares his creatives on the internet and they always turn popular among the Gen Z crowd. Banks mentioned that his main design of the chill guy meme which looks like a chilling dog in human shape was made up of a character who could be called as the Chill Guy. Explaining on Instagram he wrote, "The main design focus was coming up with a character who you could tell was a chill guy."
"My name isn’t Phillip, nor is it Phillip Banks, but you can refer to me as those," his Tumblr account bio reads.Without giving much details about himself, Bankss wrote that he was born on April 8 and he is "in a relationship with another man."
