Player ratings

Think we saw exactly why Arsenal signed Declan Rice tonight. Really impressive performance. Saliba good too. Few questions still over Havertz who is taking time to adapt to the left eight role.

21:55KEY EVENT

Full-time!

Arsenal have done it! It's a narrow win but this is a difficult place to go and they dug deep to win in south London.

21:55Tom Canton

Ramsdale collects!

90+7 - Big call from Ramsdale and he gets it. Big collection as the seconds tick into the 98th minute.

21:53Tom Canton

Wide - Mitchell

90+6 - Well... that was uncomfortable. A scramble of headers in the box sees Ramsdale parry away but only to Mitchell who fires over the bar.

Brilliant - Gabriel

90+5 - An incisive ball threatens to cut open the Gunners defence but Gabriel brilliantly sees out Ayew and it is a goal kick.

21:51Tom Canton

Yellow - Havertz

90+4 - Kicking the ball away.

21:49Tom Canton

Yellow - Doucoure

Havertz is brought down and the pressure is relieved somewhat.

Bukayo Saka and Martin Odegaard are off.

Oleksandr Zinchenko and Jakub Kiwior on.

Arsenal holding strong

88 - Palace keep throwing balls into the box as the Gunners continue to defend deep.

21:43Tom Canton

Wide - Edouard

Free header and it goes wide.

21:42Tom Canton

Corner - Palace

85 - Partey gets a foot in on Mitchell and Palace have a chance to cross.

Arsenal clear the ball. But it will keep coming back...

21:40Tom Canton

Palace substitution

Joel Ward is off. Rak-Sakyi is on.

Palace pressure

It is all the home side now as Arsenal continue to try and weather this possession from Palace. Continually clearing it long.

21:30Tom Canton

Eze is down in the box

The referee has waved it away but it will be checked by VAR.

Check complete. No penalty.

21:27Tom Canton

Arsenal substitution

Gabriel Magalhaes is on for Martinelli to help bring the defensive unit back together.

21:24KEY EVENT

RED CARD! - Tomiyasu

The Japan international has been sent off for a second yellow card.

Tomiyasu looks like he is holding the shirt and Ayew falls. Very harsh indeed.

21:24Tom Canton

Wide - Havertz!

Much better from Martinelli who gets behind the back. His cut back is blocked but it falls to Havertz who tries a volley but it cannot find the goal.

21:20Tom Canton

Over - Odegaard

Wasted really. The ball falls to the goalscorer on the edge of the box but his half volley flies over.

21:19Tom Canton

Corner - Arsenal

62 - Saka lays off Partey for a shot from range and Johnstone is forced the palm over the bar for a corner.

Martin Odegaard celebrates penalty goal

21:17Tom Canton

Yellow - Tomiyasu

The Japanese international takes too long to take a throw-in, unnecessarily.

21:15Tom Canton

Wide - Eze

It is a waste but a thankful one. Eze hits it high and wide.

21:14Tom Canton

Free-kick - Crystal Palace

57 - This is in a very good position for Palace. Saliba has taken down Eze and just outside the 'D' the Palace talisman will have a chance to score.

21:13Tom Canton

Wide - Ayew

56 - Palace come back up the other end and Ayew strikes into the side netting.

21:11KEY EVENT

GOAL! Crystal Palace 0-1 Arsenal

Odegaard takes and beats Johnstone!

Interestingly it was not Bukayo Saka to take. A change up perhaps raises some unpredictability and the stuttered run-up from Odegaard saw Johnstone dive to his left so the Norwegian placed it the other side.

21:10Tom Canton

VAR

Check complete. Arsenal will have a chance from the spot.

21:09KEY EVENT

PENALTY - Arsenal

51 - Nketiah has been brought down by Johnstone and it is a spot kick.
