Peruvians protesting recent governmental corruption allegations are planning demonstrations on Saturday, December 2 in Lima. A demonstration is scheduled for 4:00 p.m. at Plaza San Martin in Central Lima.
Protesters may block main thoroughfares in Lima. While the demonstrations are intended to be peaceful, past demonstrations have turned violent and have involved clashes between protesters and police and/or among supporters of rival political parties or groups. The U.S. Embassy advises U.S. citizens to avoid all areas of demonstrations.
Actions to take:
Avoid crowds and demonstrations.
Comply with instructions from the Peruvian National Police and local authorities.
Monitor local media for updates.
