Happy Eid-ul-Fitr 2023: Best Eid Mubarak Messages, Quotes ...
During the holy month of Ramadan, Muslims across the world observe fast from dawn to dusk for a month. During their fast they refrain from eating and drinking; this is the time for prayer and self-reflection. Each year, Ramadan falls in the ninth month in the Islamic lunar calendar and it generally falls in March or April as per the Gregorian calendar. This year Ramadan is being observed between March 23, 2023 to April 21, 2023 and its end is marked with the celebration of Eid ul Fitr, after seeing the first crescent of a new moon. Also called Meethi Eid or Eid al-Fitr, it is celebrated on the first day in the month of Shawaal, as per the Islamic calendar. Eid-ul-Fitr will be celebrated between April 21 to April 23 this year, as it depends on the moon's sighting.
Eid-ul-Fitr is also known as Meethi Eid as on this day devotees break their fast and start the new month of Shawaal on a sweet note. Thus, preparing sweet dishes likes Sheer Khurma and Kimami Sevaiyan are an important part of this festivity.
On this day, people get together, break their fasts and feast together. They also wear new clothes, offer their prayers, and donate to the poor. Elders also give money as gifts to children and it is called 'Eidi'.
