Serie A: Empoli vs Juventus – probable line-ups and where to watch

Empoli vs Juventus

Thiago Motta could hand a full debut to the club’s most expensive signing of the summer, Teun Koopmeiners, when Juventus take on Empoli in Serie A on Saturday evening.

The former Atalanta playmaker was the most expensive signing in Serie A this summer in terms of both arrivals and departures. He came off the bench against Roma a few days later, and is now in line to start against Empoli this evening, according to Saturday morning’s reports.

If that does happen, Samuel Mbangula is likely to be sacrificed, with Kenan Yildiz moving out onto the left wing. Andrea Cambiaso is likely to start on the right, although Timothy Weah did return to training alongside Khephren Thuram earlier this week.

Sky Sport Italia believe that Douglas Luiz will also come in for his first Serie A start, in place of homegrown Nicolo Fagioli.

Yet to concede a goal in the league this season, Thiago Motta is likely to stick with the same back four as the last two matches, featuring Next Gen graduate Nicolo Savona at right-back.

Empoli are not expected to make too many changes following their 1-1 draw with Bologna prior to the international break, but there could be an opportunity for Youssef Maleh, who missed out last time.

Kick-off at the Castellani is scheduled for 17.00 BST.

Empoli (3-4-2-1): Vasquez; Goglichidze, Ismajli, Viti; Gyasi, Grassi, Henderson, Pezzella; Solbakken, Maleh; Colombo.

Juventus (4-2-3-1): Di Gregorio; Savona, Bremer, Gatti, Cabal; Locatelli, Douglas Luiz; Cambiaso, Koopmeiners, Yildiz; Vlahovic.
