France vs Netherlands

France welcome Netherlands to the Stade de France as both sides begin their Euro 2024 qualifying campaign on Friday.

The 2018 World Cup winners and 2022 World Cup runners up, France, will enter the tie as favourites after winning five of their last six games against the Dutch.

The Netherlands will be looking to continue their impressive 20-game unbeaten run as Ronald Koeman returns to the national team dugout, three years after he concluded his first stint in charge.

The two giants of European football will be fighting over the top spot in Group B. They will be joined by Greece, Republic of Ireland and Gibraltar.

France vs Netherlands predicted line-ups

Paris Saint-Germain talisman Mbappe has been granted the France captaincy following the retirement of Hugo Lloris.

Karim Benzema and Raphael Varane have also announced their retirements from the international setup.

Olivier Giroud, the oldest member of the French squad (38), is expected to lead the line.

Ibrahima Konate, Axel Disasi and the uncapped Jean-Clair Todibo will all be in contention of a starting place after Wesley Fofana and William Saliba have withdrawn from the squad due to injury

On his return to the Netherlands national team, Ronald Koeman is expected to implement his favoured 4-3-3 system instead of Louis Van Gaal's preferred 3-4-1-2.

Newcastle's in form centre back Sven Botman will be vying for a place alongside Netherlands stalwart and captain Virgil van Dijk.

Wijnaldum returns to the scene after missing the World Cup through injury. He will be looking to start in centre-midfield, behind the likes of Memphis Depay, Cody Gakpo and Wout Weghorst who will likely start as the front three.

France predicted XI: Maignan; Kounde, Konate, Upamecano, Hernandez; Tchouameni, Rabiot; Coman, Griezmann, Mbappe; Giroud

Netherlands predicted XI: Cillessen; Dumfries, De Ligt, Van Dijk, Ake; Wijnaldum, De Roon, Berghuis; Depay, Weghorst, Gakpo
