Google released its upgraded AI model, Gemini 2.0 today and will be rolling these advancements into Google Search and AI Overviews. Google’s AI Overviews should be able to “tackle more complex topics and multi-step questions, including advanced math equations, multimodal queries and coding,” Google wrote.
Sundar Pichai, Google’s CEO wrote, “No product has been transformed more by AI than Search.”
AI OverviewsGoogle is already testing using Gemini 2.0 for AI Overviews. Google said it is “bringing the advanced reasoning capabilities of Gemini 2.0 to AI Overviews to tackle more complex topics and multi-step questions, including advanced math equations, multimodal queries and coding.”
Google already started limited testing this week of this updated model for AI Overviews. Google said they will “be rolling it out more broadly early next year.” “And we’ll continue to bring AI Overviews to more countries and languages over the next year,” Google added.

Why we careMore powerful and useful AI Overviews will be something that interests most of you, search marketers. Google is only testing these improved AI Overviews now and won’t be fully rolling out until next year.
