Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 spoilers follow.
A newly-released deleted scene from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 shows what happened to the villainous High Evolutionary after defeat.
Played by Chukwudi Iwuji (Peacemaker), this despicable being found himself on the receiving end of a battering when the likes of Star-Lord, Drax the Destroyer and Mantis locked horns with him, and thanks to IGN we now know that he ended up as a prisoner of Knowhere.
Finally liberated from his agonised past, Rocket Raccoon is seen sparing his torturer's life (below) as he walks away from the lazer cage that contains the High Evolutionary.

Interestingly, Iwuji himself previously teased an unseen layer to his antagonist's fate during a chat to Comicbook.com.
"Well, let me just put it this way. I'm hoping you'll see an extended version or maybe an alternate ending, you know, that we certainly did film," he said back in May.
"I mean the whole point in Marvel is that unless you see someone die they haven't necessarily died and even if they do die, what does that mean in the multiverse, right? But, the point is that Rocket doesn't shoot me.

"They make a point of saying, 'why don't you kill him', and he says, 'no, I'm not going to kill him'. And you don't actually see me go down with the ship. So, I'll just leave it at that."
The deleted scene confirms that the High Evolutionary defied death, therefore it seems likely that he'll appear in the MCU again in the future.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3 is out now in cinemas. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 1 and Vol 2 and The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special are streaming on Disney+.
