India will field 17 shuttlers across five events at the Hong Kong Open 2024 badminton tournament in Kowloon, Hong Kong, China starting Tuesday.

The Hong Kong Open 2024 badminton matches will be available on live streaming and telecast in India.

All Indian badminton players who took part in the Paris 2024 Olympics, including PV Sindhu and Lakshya Sen will not feature at the Hong Kong Open, a BWF Super 500 event.

This marks the third consecutive BWF Tour event – after Japan, Korea and Taipei Open – that India’s Paris Olympians have opted to skip since the conclusion of the Games.

In the men’s singles, world No. 36 Priyanshu Rajawat and world No. 41 Kiran George will begin their campaign in the round of 32.

Priyanshu Rajawat was a member of the Indian team that won a historic Thomas Cup title two years ago. He also won the Orleans Masters BWF 300 event last year.

Meanwhile, Chirag Sen and Manav Chaudhary will feature in the qualification round on Tuesday. Both players must win two matches in the qualification round to enter the main draw.

World No. 39 Aakarshi Kashyap is the top-ranked Indian woman to compete in Hong Kong. Tanya Hemanth, 73rd in the badminton rankings, is the other Indian to compete in the women’s singles event.

Aakarshi Kashyap has a tough opening contest against Asian Games bronze medallist and world No. 9 Aya Ohori of Japan.

Vaibhaav and Ashith Surya are the sole representatives in men’s doubles, who will begin their campaign in the qualification round.

Commonwealth Games medallists N Sikki Reddy and B Sumeeth Reddy will face fellow Indians Kona Tarun-Sri Krishna Priya Kudaravalli in their mixed doubles opener. Ashith Surya-Amrutha Pramuthesh will also feature in this event.

The Panda sisters, Rutaparna and Swetaparna, along with Tressa Jolly and Gayatri Gopichand will compete in the women’s doubles.

The Hong Kong Open 2024 badminton tournament will conclude on Sunday.
