Inter vs Napoli

Wingback Federico Dimarco has won praise for his creative display down the left flank for Inter Milan against Napoli.

Today’s print edition of Turin-based newspaper Tuttosport, via FCInterNews, praise the 26-year-old for offering his team’s most threatening outlet for much of the 1-1 Serie A draw.

Dimarco started in his usual left-wingback role in yesterday evening’s match at the San Siro.

The Italian international had a fair bit of license to roam, though.

And it was a productive display from Dimarco in midfield and in the final third.

The Inter wingback’s ability to find space was on full display. He was able to get forward and offer a passing option in space both in the wider areas and also coming more in-field.

And when Dimarco got on the ball, the 26-year-old was often the engine of his team’s play.

This was the case both in terms of crosses into the box, and passes to set up team moves.

Dimarco may not have scored or assisted a goal on the night.

However, in terms of Inter’s most dangerous play, the Italian was almost always at the heart of it.

Tuttosport give Dimarco a rating of 6.5/10 in the player ratings for the match.

Meanwhile, that is also the same score that the newspaper give to Inter defender Alessandro Bastoni. Like Dimarco, the 24-year-old played a big role for Inter creatively speaking.

It was in fact Bastoni who set up the opening goal for wingback Matteo Darmian.

And Darmian is the Inter player to receive the highest score in Tuttosport’s player ratings for the match.

The former Manchester United and Torino veteran received a score of 7/10. This reflects both his goal and also the defensive contribution that he made on the right flank.
