(Reuters / Eloisa Lopez)US Presidential Election 2024 Live Updates: As the US presidential election campaign heats up with less than two weeks until polling day, both candidates, Donald Trump and Kamala Harris, exchanged sharp criticisms of one another.
Former President and Republican party nominee Trump, during his campaign in Pennsylvania, lashed out at opponent Harris, claiming that if elected she would “guarantee" the US' entry into World War III and would be ineffective in dealing with global leaders such as Chinese President Xi Jinping and Russian President Vladimir Putin, as per a report by The Hill.
“To make her president would be to gamble with the lives of millions of people. She would get us into a World War III guaranteed because she is too grossly incompetent to do the job," Trump stated.
Meanwhile, campaigning in Philadelphia, the largest city in battleground state of Pennsylvania, Democratic party nominee and US Vice President Harris praised young voters for being “rightly impatient for change", and told the audience that “there is too much at stake" in the campaign.
She also criticized Trump for belittling the country. “It’s just another example of how he really belittles our country," Harris remarked, condemning Trump’s remarks as not only disrespectful but also damaging to America’s image globally. “This is someone who is a former president of the United States, who has a bully pulpit. And this is how he uses it? To tell the rest of the world that somehow the United States of America is trash? America deserves better," she said.

US Election 2024 Live Updates: Kamala Harris fires back at Trump supporter’s controversial rally remarksKamala Harris has responded to remarks made by comedian and Trump supporter Tony Hinchcliffe at a rally in New York last night.
VP Kamala Harris stated that Donald Trump’s Madison Square rally reinforced her campaign's view that he’s more focused on his personal grievances and divisive rhetoric than on unifying the nation.
She emphasized that Trump’s focus is on his own agenda, which she argued does not align with strengthening American families or supporting workers.
Harris argued that Trump’s speeches lack substance that would genuinely address or uplift the aspirations and goals of Americans.
She drew a contrast between her own approach and Trump’s, suggesting that if elected, Trump would prioritize targeting opponents over pursuing policies that benefit the public. Harris suggested Trump’s presidency would focus on enmity rather than leadership, highlighting his potential “enemies list" as a core concern.
"He is focused and actually fixated on his grievances on himself and on dividing our country and it is not in any way something that will strengthen the American family, the American worker," she said outside Air Force Two.
"It is nothing about what he is saying that is actually going to support the aspirations, the dreams and the ambitions of the American people," the vice president added. (SKY News reports)
