Prince William is planning to spend "as much time as possible with the Princess while she recuperates, balancing daytime visits with caring for their three children at home in Windsor," according to the Telegraph. Prince William postponed his official engagements to support Kate during her recovery, and two upcoming overseas trips were also postponed.

Yesterday, Kensington Palace announced that the Princess of Wales's surgery was "successful" and "it is expected that she will remain in hospital for ten to fourteen days, before returning home to continue her recovery." She will not resume public duties until after Easter, which is months away.

Following the news of Kate's hospitalization, Buckingham Palace announced that King Charles is set to undergo a prostate procedure next week. "His Majesty's condition is benign and he will attend hospital next week for a corrective procedure. The King’s public engagements will be postponed for a short period of recuperation," the Palace said.

As William visited Kate today, Queen Camilla carried out her first engagement of the year, and gave an update on King Charles's health, saying, "He’s fine, thank you very much. Looking forward to getting back to work."

It was unusual that the medical news for both the King and the Princess of Wales were announced on the same day, but as T&C's Victoria Murphy writes, "the fact that these announcements were made within hours of each other does seem to have been something of a coincidence." In fact, as King Charles's biographer, Robert Hardman, told T&C, "A lot of what happens in royal land is just by chance, by coincidence, not by design. But it might look [planned] at the time."
