Perez visits Real Madrid training after club insist president is not resigning
Reports in France claim that Kylian Mbappe has no intention of joining Real Madrid this summer, and will remain at Paris Saint-Germain.
Le Parisien newspaper reports that the France international has decided that he will stay at the Parc des Princes for the coming season, whatever happens.
Despite the proclaimed intention of the Ligue 1 champions that they would sell the player if he did not sign a new contract, to avoid losing him for nothing, the 24-year-old has not been shaken in his intention to see out his current deal before leaving on a free transfer in the summer of 2024.
On June 16 after a match between France and Gibraltar, the striker had said, “Staying at PSG is my only option for now,” and that belief has not changed.
Mbappe is reportedly aggrieved that neither Robert Lewandowski nor Bernardo Silva had arrived at the club when he was led to believe that their transfers were essentially done in 2022.
If he does not sign a new contract then he is expected to be largely frozen out by the Parisians ahead of what is an important season for both player and club.
PSG have started a squad rebuild under new manager Luis Enrique after Christophe Gaultier failed to impress in Europe, and with Lionel Messi having rejected the chance to stay in Paris in favour of a switch to Inter Miami in MLS, they are busy in the transfer market.
Manuel Ugarte, Marco Asensio, Arnau Tenas, Cher Ndour, Goncalo Ramos, Milan Skriniar, Xavi Simons, Kang-in Lee and Lucas Hernandez have all arrived under the instruction of sporting director Luis Campos, and Mauro Icardi and Sergio Ramos have both left. Brazilian striker Neymar is also linked with a move away after losing the confidence of the club’s hierarchy.
