FC Barcelona captain Sergio Busquets has denied that he and former teammate Lionel Messi have agreements to join Al-Hilal in an interview with Mundo Deportivo.

Busquets will depart the Blaugrana when his contract expires on June 30, which is also the date that Messi becomes a free agent at Paris Saint Germain.

Earlier this month, El Chiringuito reported that the duo, along with Jordi Alba, have already agreed to join Saudi Giants Al-Hilal this summer.

According to the popular Spanish football programme, Messi will be paid an astronomical €350 million ($375 million) a year in the Middle East which will immediately set him up to top Forbes' list of the World's Highest-Paid Athletes in 2024.

Jorge Messi denied that his son has an agreement in place with anyone through a strongly-worded statement. This week, with his farewell ceremony set to take place on Wednesday, Busquets has made similar remarks in an interview with Mundo Deportivo after Al-Hilal also told the Catalan newspaper nothing is set in stone.

Simply asked whether it was true that he, Messi and Alba have accepted offers from the Saudis, Busquets responded: "No, no, surely not. I give you my word."

Earlier in the sitdown chat, it was put to Busquets that he is leaving Camp Nou at a time when there is talk that Messi might return.

"Everyone has their life and family, and conditions are different for everyone," Busquets said. "There is no equal condition for both, nor do I want it, because Leo is on another level in every way.

"It is true that if we had coincided [at Barca], it would have been a gift for me to play with the best player in the world and of all time again.

"But in the end other things are prioritized and if in the end he comes, [it's] better [for the club]. In this case he will not be here - I do not know if in the future he will be, but if not - I will stay with what we have already shared that is not little."

Probed on whether he and Messi had discussed their futures when they recently had dinner together with their families and Alba's, Busquets replied: "No, because none of the three of us had or have anything closed."

"Of course we said we would like to get back together and have the families together. Beyond that comment, without further ado, each one will decide for himself," Busquets insisted.
