CHENNAI: The

Madras high court

has refused to stall the release of Tamil movie ‘

Maamannan

’ starring

Udhayanidhi Stalin

and

Vadivelu

. The movie is slated to hit the screens on June 29.
Justice K Kumaresh Babu

refused to pass any interim order on the plea moved by film producer Ramasaravanan of OST Films seeking to stay the release of the movie.
The court refused any interim relief since the petitioner had failed to implead correct parties as respondents to the plea.
Ramasaravanan alleged that Udhayanidhi was trying to release ‘Maamannan’ without completing ‘Angel,’ a film that he had committed with his (the producer’s) company.

Though shooting for ‘Angle’ commenced in 2018 and he had spent nearly Rs 13 crore, the movie could not be completed till now as Udhayanidhi was not cooperating to complete it by refusing to give call sheets, he said. He wanted the court to direct Udhayanidhi to pay Rs 25 crore as compensation before the release of ‘Maamannan.’
According to Ramasaravanan, only 20% of the shooting is required to complete ‘Angel ’and Udhayanidhi, who is the hero of the film, has to give a call sheet for at least eight days to finish filming his portion. However, the actor has been refusing to cooperate and was now trying to release ‘Maamannan’ produced by Red Giant, Ramasaravanan said, adding that if he was permitted to do so, it would cause great financial loss to OST Films.

The petitioner also wanted the court to direct Udhayanidhi to complete ‘Angel’ before releasing ‘Maamannan.’
