Doku gets the ball outside the United penalty area and he shoots at the Onana’s near post. He catches the shot well and the ball somehow manages to creep inside the net after a touch from Onana. City has a lifeline and Onana, who has made some excellent saves throughout the match, has conceded a disappointing goal.

United does well to defend a City corner and has a chance to break. Mainoo spots Garnacho free and passes the ball to him. Garnacho tries to make a run at goal but Walker does well to make a well-timed tackle and stop the United counter. Garnacho felt the full force of the tackle and was on the ground for a moment but it is not serious and is okay to continue.

Bruno stands over the freekick and eventually goes for a direct shot. The shot is low and was dipping but Ortega does well to catch the ball and hold on to it.

Akanji brings down Hojlund and now United has a freekick in a dangerous position. A big moment in his final.

Foden takes the freekick and shoots straight at the wall. United tries to counter but cannot do so.

Doku is knocked over by Amrabat and City has a freekick just outside United’s penalty area. It is a dangerous position.

Walker shoots from distance again. This time he goes low and tries to go across Onana, who gets down well and makes the save. Haaland tries to get to the rebound but Dalot reaches the ball before him.

Mainoo tries to stop Haaland by getting to the ball from a City corner. Haaland goes down inside the box and there is another penalty shout from the City players. but reply shows that while it was not the best defending from Mainoo, his actions does not warrant a penalty as well.

Martinez has done down clutching his hamstring and that is never a good sight. Rashford signals at the bench, indicating a possible change.

Doku whips a cross across the face of the goal but none of the City players could get a telling touch, before United sends the ball out for a corner.

Doku and Foden tries to play a one-two, with the former trying to slip a first-time lobbed pass to Foden. But the latter is stopped in his tracks and Onana comes out to collect the ball.

Garnacho gets inside the box and takes a shot at the near post. Ortega had his near post well covered and makes the save.

Stones has a go at goal this time from an ambitious distance but his effort is nowhere near the target, as the ball goes out for a United goalkick.

Dalot gets the ball, cuts in and takes a shot at goal. The shot is at the near-post but does not threaten Ortega.

Rodri slips a pass to Alvarez who had an excellent run inside the box. Alvarez tries to open his body and tries to slot the ball inside the far corner but the ball did not bend enough and rolls out of play, much to the relief of the United players.

Doku tries to slip a pass to Foden who had made a good run inside the box but the pass is a tad bit overhit and the ball roll out of play for a United goalkick.

McTominay gets the ball outside the City area and has a chance to shoot. His effort is blocked and City has the ball again.

Alvarez’s initial shot is blocked but a lucky deflection brings the ball back to him. He shoots first time but the effort was always sailing above the crossbar.

Walker gets the ball outside the United penalty area. He shoots and it is a rocket of a shot by the City player. Onana sees the ball late but makes an excellent save to send the ball out for a corner..

Another City backpass almost sends Garnacho clear on goal but Gvardiol uses his pace to make the recovery run and get the ball to safety.

Alvarez makes a good run and tries to square the ball to Haaland in the middle. But Martinez does well to prevent his national teammate from doing so.

Doku uses his trickery to beat his marker and then find Foden inside the box. However, Foden cannot catch the shot and Onana collects.

United launches a counter-attack. Garnacho tries to find McTominay with the cutback but Rodri makes a good challenge to prevent the Scotsman from getting a shot away. He goes down inside the box in the process and there are penalty shouts. However, the referee waves play to go on.

Silva crosses inside the box from the right, with Haaland being the intended target.But Martinez is there to make the clearing header.

Mainoo slips an excellent pass to Fernandes in the final third. He tries to thread a pass to the overlapping Rashford on the right but his pass is cut out by Stones. That is an opportunity missed.

Rodri sees Onana off his line and tries to catch him out with a shot from inside his own half. But the shot never looked like threatening the United keeper, who recovered well in time.

Haaland whips a ball inside the box in the hope of finding a teammate in blue but the ball misses everyone and goes out of play.

Manchester City has been caught out yet again by a quick attack by United. Garnacho receives a long crossfield diagonal. He makes the run inside and passes the ball to Fernandes, who spots Mainoo’s run behind him and passes the ball to him. Mainoo keeps his calm to slot to bend the ball inside the far corner.

City’s high backline allows Man United to counter again,. Garnacho receives the ball on the right and makes a run at goal, He squares the ball to Rashford, who puts it inside the net. Now, the offside flag goes up. It is not Rashford but Garnacho, who had timed his run a bit too early.

City sticking to the script and making Man United chase the ball with its slick passing but Ten Hag’s men have kept a compact defensive shape till now. But given City’s attacking prowess, that can change anytime.

City looks to respond immediately as Haaland tries to use his strength and break clear of the defence. But Varane is placed well to make the clearance.

It is a big defensive error from Man City. A ball is played over the top inside the City half, and Garnacho times his run to perfection in order to get to the ball. Ortega rushes out to help his defence but there is a miscommunication as Gvardiol’s header completely misses the City keeper. Garnacho latches on to the loose ball and slots it inside the net with the easiest of finishes.

City puts United under pressure with a spell of possession inside the final third. Rodri gets the ball and finds himself with time and space. He crosses low inside the box, hoping to find Haaland but the ball is cleared before it reaches the Norwegian striker.

Garnacho tries to threaten from the right flank but Ake does well to shield the ball and see it out of play.

Walker’s sudden backpass wrongfoots Stone and suddenly United closes in. City cannot clear the ball to safety and this time, there is another mistake. Bruno looks to close in and goes down. However, he does not appeal for a penalty. Kovacic won the ball fair and square. 

City counters at the other end, with Haaland leading the charge but the referee blows his whistle for a City freekick after the Norwegian is brought down.

De Bruyne sends a good cross inside the United box from a City freekick but Varane is there again to head the ball to safety.

De Bruyne crosses low inside the box from the left, hoping to find Haaland, but Varane is in a good place to make the clearing header.

Rashford playing off the shoulder of the last line of the high City backline, hoping to capitalise on any mistake by the City players. This time he puts Gvardiol under pressure but the Croatian keeps calm to head the ball back to his keeper.

Man United launches its first attack. McTominay spreads the ball to Garnacho on the right side of the box. He takes a shot at goal but it is straight at Ortega, who does well to hold on to the ball.

Onana plays a long ball for Rashford inside the City half. The Man United forward looks to get to the ball but Walker beats him for pace.

As expected, Man City is enjoying plenty of the ball and the Red Devils are having to chase for it.

Rashford makes an early charge at goal but he is eventually crowded out.
