Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe to launch provincial election ...

Saskatchewan Premier Scott Moe has confirmed that the provincial election campaign will officially begin on Tuesday. Moe announced via social media that he will ask Lieutenant-Governor Russ Mirasty to dissolve the legislature, setting the stage for the election, with voting day scheduled for October 28.

Moe's Saskatchewan Party, in power for the past 17 years, is seeking a fifth consecutive majority government. He is running on a platform of economic growth, alongside investments in education and health care.

"We’ve built a strong economy and made key investments in the areas that matter most to Saskatchewan families," Moe stated. 

NDP Leader Carla Beck, Moe's primary opponent, says it’s time for a change in leadership. Beck has pledged to ease financial burdens on Saskatchewan families by offering a gas tax break and removing the provincial sales tax on children's clothing and certain grocery items. She also plans to increase spending on health care and education, emphasizing the need for stronger public services.

Recent polls indicate a tightening race between the Saskatchewan Party and the NDP. The New Democrats are seeing growing support in urban centres such as Regina and Saskatoon, while the Saskatchewan Party continues to dominate in rural areas.

With the campaign officially starting, both parties are expected to intensify their efforts to secure voters' support in the lead-up to the election.
