Al Ittihad are desperate to win the battle for Mohamed Salah this summer and are ready to offer him wages on par with Cristiano Ronaldo.

The Saudi side are priming for one more mammoth transfer from Europe this transfer window and are keen on the Liverpool star.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp insisted last week that the Egypt international is not for sale but talkSPORT understands Al Ittihad are readying a bid worth €100million (£85.9m) plus €50m (£43m).

It would make Salah the most expensive Saudi Pro League signing of all time - breaking the record only set earlier this month when Neymar joined Al Hilal for £69m.

talkSPORT also understands that Salah would earn around as much as Al Nassr's Ronaldo at Al Ittihad, taking into account all earning opportunities.

Al Ittihad are already preparing for the move and have scheduled a medical in Dubai, though this is no indicator that a transfer has been accepted.

Liverpool maintain that Salah is not for sale and are not interested in negotiating.

However, Al Ittihad are hoping that the forward helps the move along by pushing the Reds into accepting the offer.

Another pursuit is planned before the end of the transfer window but plans are already being drawn up ahead of next year.

If they are told no, the Saudi Pro champions will make another bid next summer.

Losing Salah this late in the window would be a huge loss to Liverpool, who might consider the transfer raid too late in the day to consider.

The 31-year-old has arguably been the club's most important player since signing in 2017.

In total, he has scored 187 times in 307 appearances while the player's agent made it clear earlier this summer that he wanted to stay put.

His agent Ramy Abbas said on August 7: “If we considered leaving LFC this year, we wouldn’t have renewed the contract last summer. Mohamed remains committed to LFC.”

Salah signed a three-year contract extension in the summer of 2022, making him the best-paid player in Liverpool's history.

But those wages do not compare to the eye-watering numbers that Al Ittihad can offer as they look to make him one of the best-paid players in the world alongside Ronaldo.

The five-time Ballon d'Or winner joined Al Nassr after his Manchester United contract was ripped up late last year.

The 38-year-old is earning £173m-a-year in Saudi Arabia while Salah's ex-Liverpool teammates have already made the move to the Middle East in Jordan Henderson and Fabinho.
