SHAH ALAM - It is hard to find true friends, especially those who are willing to stand by you in times of trouble, says former prime minister Najib Razak.
In a Facebook post, he noted that many individuals are fair-weather friends, only there when times are good and putting on a facade, reported Malaysian newspaper Sinar Harian.
“Life is full of lessons. In today’s challenging times, there are also moments of sweetness and appreciation,” he wrote on Oct 30.
On that same day, the High Court ordered Najib to defend himself against four cases involving allegations of using his position to elicit bribes of nearly RM2.3 billion (S$690 million) from 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB) funds, as well as 21 charges of money laundering related to the same amount.
Judge Datuk Collin Lawrence Sequerah declared this decision after determining that the prosecution had successfully established a prima facie case at the conclusion of their presentation.
The former United Malays National Organisation president expressed gratitude to everyone who supported him and waited for the outcome of his case.
“There are many supporters and ordinary people who appreciate my contributions and miss the policies of the previous administration,” he said.
“Sincerely, this is what true friendship means. May the bonds we share in this world endure and serve as blessings in the afterlife.” THE STAR/ASIA NEWS NETWORK
