India batter Nitish Kumar Reddy slammed his maiden T20I fifty in the second match against Bangladesh at the Arun Jaitely Stadium in Delhi.

India youngster Nitish Kumar Reddy repaid the faith of India captain Suryakumar Yadav as he registered his maiden T20I half-century in the second game against Bangladesh on Wednesday, October 9 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi. Reddy walked in to bat at number four at the fall of Abhishek Sharma’s wicket in the third over.

The 21-year-old scored a magnificent 74 off 34 balls with the help of four fours and seven sixes. He became the fourth youngest Indian to register a half century in the shortest format after Rohit Sharma (20y 143d), Tilak Varma (20y, 271d) and Rishabh Pant (21y, 38d).

Reddy started his innings cautiously and scored just one boundary in his first 13 balls against Tanzim Hasan Sakib. However, he changed his gears against Mahumudullah Riyad smashing him for a six over long on in the ninth over.

The right-handed batter also survived a close lbw shout against the Bangladesh spinner as he was struck just outside off stump while attempting a reverse sweep. Reddy further whacked Rishad Hossain for consecutive sixes in the next over to move into 20s.

Rinku Singh also scores third T20I fifty

The assault continued against Mustafizur Rahman and Taskin Ahmed in the subsequent overs as Reddy brought up his half century off just 27 balls. He also ripped apart Mehidy Hasan Miraz in the 13th over smashing him for three sixes and a boundary.

He was finally dismissed in the 14th over as he holed out at extra cover against Mustafizur Rahman. As a result, an entertaining knock from Reddy came to an end as the entire crowd rose to its feet to applaud the youngster.

Reddy added 108 runs for the fourth wicket with Rinku Singh off 48 balls after India were left reeling at 41/3 after 5.3 overs. Rinku also brought up his third T20I fifty as he scored 53 off 29 balls with the help of five fours and three sixes
