Omoda C9 by Jaecoo - D-segment coupé SUV launched in ...
Following the preview of the Omoda C9 SUV in September, it is now finally the official launch for the D-segment SUV under the Jaecoo brand, and this is priced at RM168,800 for the 2WD, and RM188,800 for the AWD; prices rare on-the-road without insurance.
The early bird promotion for the C9 includes a 10-year, one-million km warranty on engine and suspension components, in addition to the standard seven-year, 150,000 km vehicle warranty, and this promotion is applicable to bookings made for the C9 until December 8.
To recap its brand positioning – in Malaysia, Jaecoo is positioned as a premium SUV brand, and the Omoda C9 is the most premium product from the Chery group so far in Malaysia, so this is being sold by Jaecoo Malaysia.
Measuring 4,775 mm long, 1,920 mm wide, 1,671 mm tall with a wheelbase of 2,800 mm, the C9 SUV has luggage capacity from 660 litres with its rear seats in place, expanding to 1,783 litres with the seats folded. Its size places it in the ballpark of the Chery Tiggo 8 Pro and the Mercedes-Benz GLC, as well as the Toyota Harrier that is possibly its closest competitor.

Drive is sent to the wheels through an eight-speed torque converter automatic transmission.
Key visual identifiers for the C9 include the diamond-matrix front air intake grille, along with its ‘Sigma’ daytime running lights (DRL) signature. Headlamps are adaptive LED units, accompanied by LED tail lamps, with an auto-sensing function for the tailgate.
Underneath, the C9 chassis gets MacPherson struts in front and a multi-link setup at the rear, supplemented by the Continuous Damping Control (CDC) adaptive suspension on the AWD which is a stand-out feature for the SUV segment in this price bracket.
Wheels are 20-inch multi-spoke alloys shod in 245/50R20 tyres, with a matching full-size spare; the 2WD gets brake calipers in silver, while the AWD get calipers in red. Driveline controls for the C9 2WD variant include three drive modes, while those of the C9 AWD get an additional four modes with an off-road focus.

Air-conditioning is a three-zone setup, adding a three-cartridge fragrance system on the AWD, where the choice of scent can be selected from the infotainment touchscreen.
Also included are ventilated front seats, a leather-trimmed dashboard, shift paddles, head-up display, eight-way powered driver’s seat with memory for six positions (six-way adjustment on the 2WD), dashcam and a 540-degree surround view camera, an electric steering column (manual on the 2WD) and double-glazed front windows. The rear occupants get seats with a power recline function, and B-pillar air-conditioning vents.
Added to the AWD variant are the front door ambient light, air-conditioning vent ambient light, adaptive front lighting system and an electronic child safety lock.
