Actress Park Ji-ah, best known for her powerful performance as the mother of Song Hye-kyo’s character in K-drama thriller The Glory, has died at the age of 52, succumbing to complications from a brain stroke.

“We will forever remember her passion for acting, which stayed with her until the very end. Our deepest sympathies go out to her family and loved ones as they mourn her loss,” her agency Billions said following her death on September 30.

Debuting in 2002 with the film The Coast Guard, directed by Kim Ki-duk, Park had an illustrious career, showcasing her versatility in a range of productions. She captivated audiences with her roles in films such as Epitaph, Breath and 3-Iron, all directed by Kim, and dramas like Bloody Heart and Cleaning Up.

However, it was her portrayal of Jeong Mi-hee, the complex and cold-hearted mother of Dong-eun, played by Song, in Netflix’s The Glory that left an indelible mark.
