The ninth month of the Islamic calendar, Ramadan often spelled Ramazan, Ramadhan, or Ramathan), is observed by Muslims all around the world as a time for fasting (sawm), prayer, introspection, and community. The annual Ramadan observance, which marks the anniversary of Muhammad's first revelation, is one of the Five Pillars of Islam and lasts from one sighting of the crescent moon to the next for a period of twenty-nine to thirty days.
All adult Muslims who are not terminally or chronically ill, travelling, old, breastfeeding, diabetic, or menstruation are required to fast from sunrise to sunset.

Suhur, the meal eaten before dawn, and iftar, the meal eaten at sunset to break the fast, are the two terms used. Despite the fact that fatwas have been issued stating that Muslims who reside in areas
Some Muslims believe that Ramadan is one of the names of God, hence it is claimed in several hadiths that it is improper to refer to the calendar month of Ramadan by its own name alone and that it is essential to mention "month of Ramadan,"

The Persian pronunciation of the Arabic letter "d" is "z." The Muslim populations of various nations, including Azerbaijan, Iran, India, Pakistan, and Turkey, which have historically had a Persian influence, use the term Ramadan or Ramzan. In Bangladesh, the word Romzan is used.

The Quran was revealed during Ramadan, providing unambiguous instructions for humanity as well as evidence supporting those instructions and establishing the standard (of right and wrong). Anyone present should observe a month long fast, and whomever is ill or travelling should observe a few additional days. Allah wants you to have it easy; He doesn't want you to struggle. He also wants you to finish the time, praise Allah for guiding you, and maybe even be grateful. [Quran 2:185]

It is customary to fast from sunrise to sunset. Suhur, the meal eaten before breaking the fast, and iftar, the meal eaten after breaking the fast, are both Islamic terms.

Muslims strive to develop better self-discipline and spend more time in prayer and charitable deeds.

The gates to paradise are opened during Ramadan, while the gates to hell are closed and the devils are bound.
