Royal Challengers Bengaluru vs Chennai Super Kings IPL 2024 Live Score: Virat Kohli and Faf Du Plessis resume for Royal Challengers Bengaluru after rain break against Chennai Super Kings at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru

The Indian Express’ man on the ground in Bengaluru, Venkata Krishna B, has been giving us updates on everything that’s happening at the Chinnaswamy Stadium during the game. He has been keeping tabs on the weather as well. At 8:15 pm, Venkata reports that the weather is now behaving itself. “It has stopped completely. The covers are coming off,” informs Venkata from Bengaluru.

With RCB being sent out to bat first after the toss, they have to beat CSK by a margin of 18 runs or more when the 5-time champions come out to chase later in the match. The home team will be playing with one change with Glenn Maxwell coming in for Will Jacks while the visitors replaces Moeen Ali with Mitchell Santner.

This could be the last time fans will see Virat Kohli and MS Dhoni together at the crease, which will also decide the final play-off spot. Though the weather department had issued an orange alert for the city with heavy showers predicted for the weekend, it hadn’t started raining till the time the match started but it began to drizzle by the time the second over.

A month ago, Royal Challengers Bengaluru looked buried. But they have been reborn like the mythical phoenix. With Virat Kohli giving them wings to fly, they have scripted a stunning turnaround to inch quietly to the play-offs, which looked like a farfetched dream in the middle of April.

Win their last league match on Saturday, all those criticisms about the strike-rates and lack of frontline spinners and a toothless attack would be forgotten. A meme material for much of this season, they have an opportunity to enter the banter room. Muted just four weeks into the IPL, the chants “Ee saala cup namde” are beginning to be heard again slowly.
