Rare snowfall in Saudi Arabia: 'Mother nature is changing its colours ...
For the first time in history, Saudi Arabia experienced its first snowfall. The pictures from the gulf have astounded the netizens wondering how the hot region received snowfall after heavy rain and hail. The natural development left Saudi Arabia's Al-Jawf region with an icy landscape and normally parched mountains and the desert landscape has now turned into snow-covered mountains. The hilly regions of the place were also covered in snow and the photos from Saudi Arabia have been doing rounds on social media. This unusual phenomenon has the internet in awe. Netizens finally talk about
climate change
.
According to the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), this unusual weather phenomenon can be attributed to a rare low-pressure system over the Arabian Sea. This system brought in air filled with moisture, which when combined with the intense desert warmth, triggered thunderstorms, hail, and even, also snow.
Creating a global interest, the generally scorching hot desert climate of UAE has now become a cold place with snow, and the Saudi Press Agency revealed that this unusual weather has not only changed the topography but has given the rivers and waterfalls of Saudi Arabia a new life. These strong rains and snowfall have the terrain bursting with nature's flowers.
Internet users pointed out that climate change is happening and noted that Saudi Arabia is the best example. One post on X read, "Not a good sign, mother nature is changing its colours.” Another user pointed out, “It’s not snow, it’s hail. Big difference.”
"Some Last Signs of Doomsday As Told by Prophet Mohammad rise and fall aur Arabia, arabia will turn into green are last few signs told 1400 years ago fabi ayyi ala i rabbikuma tukazziban," wrote one X user. "Now Saudi is preparing to celebrate Christmas! Were they waiting to get snow?" wrote one in a lighter vein.
While many worry about climate change, a few still take it lightly and are enjoying this new weather in UAE, making it a must-visit place in their travel destination list. Look at the tweets here!
