St. Albans Police halt robbery at From Scratch, arrest two men

ST. ALBANS CITY — St. Albans Police stopped a burglary in-progress early Sunday morning and arrested two individuals.

At approximately 4:31 a.m. Sunday, Sept. 22, police officers saw unknown people inside of From Scratch on South Main Street while doing a proactive foot patrol in downtown St. Albans.

The officers investigated and determined a burglary was actively occurring at the store. Officers intervened, taking custody of Nathan L. Robtoy, 36, of St. Albans, and Tony Brace, 44, currently unhoused.

According to police, a thorough investigation was conducted, and the two men were arrested and charged with burglary, possession of burglary tools, unlawful mischief and resisting arrest.

A judicial officer of the Vermont Superior Court imposed bail on Robtoy in the amount of $7,500 and upon Brace in the amount of $2,500, as well as conditions of release, in accordance with a request from the Office of the Franklin County State’s Attorney.

Robtoy and Brace were lodged at the Northwest State Correctional Facility for lack of bail.
