Chennai: Minister V Senthil Balaji, who has been lodged in the

Puzhal prison

in connection with a cash-for-job, is stable in the prison hospital. He is served with

curd rice

, chapati and fruits on the advice of the prison medical officer.
The minister, who was arrested by the ED officials on June 14, underwent a coronary bypass surgery in Kauvery hospital on June 21 to remove four blocks in his veins. He was shifted to the Puzhal prison on Monday.
A prison official and an inmate have been assigned to monitor the health of the minister. The prison staff are maintaining surveillance in three shifts.
According to prison officials, Senthil Balaji had curd rice for dinner on Monday and took vegetarian food on Tuesday.

Since he is a minister, the prison officials provided him with ‘A’ class facility – a separate room, cot, table, chair, mosquito net and mattress. The food plan too is distinct from that of ordinary prisoners.
The ED officials searched the residence of Senthil Balaji on June 13 and arrested him the next day. As the minister fell sick during arrest, he was hospitalised.
