PETALING JAYA, Aug 28 — The first trailer for Sonic the Hedgehog 3 has been released — and it features one of the blue one's most iconic foes — the evil Shadow the Hedgehog, voiced by Keanu Reeves.
Scheduled for release on December 20, the third film will also see funnyman Jim Carrey reprising his role as Dr. Ivo “Eggman” Robotnik from the first two movies.
The official trailer, which sees Team Sonic reluctantly teaming up with Robotnik, however also revealed that Carrey will play a second character — Robotnik’s grandfather, Professor Gerald Robotnik.
Sonic the Hedgehog 3 which was greenlit prior to the release of 2022’s second installment, will explore new areas of the video game universe by Sega.
Post-credits scene of the last instalment had teased the inclusion of Shadow.
Alongside Ben Schwartz as Sonic, the live-action cast from the previous two movies returning apart from Carrey — are James Marsden as Tom Wachowski, Tika Sumpter as Maddie Wachowski and Lee Majdoub as Agent Stones.
Colleen O’Shaughnessey, who voices Miles “Tails” Prower, and Idris Elba, who voices Knuckles the Echidna, are also back.
