Spain vs. Germany: Which Squad Holds the Higher Market Value?
The Spanish national team, who face Germany in the Euro 2024 quarter-finals this Friday, has a total market value of 965.5 million euros, which is approximately $1.08 billion, surpassing the German squad's value by nearly 135 million euros, valued at 831 million euros.
La Roja, according to Transfermarkt, ranks fourth in the list of most valuable national teams. Rodri, the midfielder from Manchester City, is their highest-valued player at 120 million euros, approximately $134.4 million. Just behind Rodri is the young Spanish football revelation, Lamine Yamal, a forward from Barcelona, valued at 90 million euros, approximately $100.8 million. In third place is his teammate Pedri (80 million euros), valued at approximately $89.6 million, followed by Nico Williams, the winger from Athletic Club, valued at 60 million euros, approximately $67.2 million.
At the lower end of the ranking are Jesús Navas (2.2 million euros), right-back from Sevilla, valued at approximately $2.5 million; Nacho (3 million euros), center-back from Real Madrid, valued at approximately $3.36 million; and Joselu (5 million euros), forward from Al Gharafa in Saudi Arabia, valued at approximately $5.6 million.
Ranked fifth in the overall ranking of most valuable national teams is 'Die Mannschaft' (the German national team), which interestingly boasts the most valuable player across both squads: Florian Wirtz, forward from Bayer Leverkusen, valued at 130 million euros, approximately $145.6 million. However, Leroy Sané, valued at 70 million euros, approximately $78.4 million, is expected to start over Wirtz in the crucial Friday match in Stuttgart.
Jamal Musiala from Bayern Munich is the second most valuable player in Germany, just 10 million euros below Wirtz, valued at approximately $11.2 million. Toni Kroos, potentially facing his last professional match if Germany loses, is valued at 10 million euros, approximately $11.2 million, which is 2 million euros more than Thomas Müller and 8 million euros more than Manuel Neuer, both from Bayern Munich and among the least valued. Müller is not a starter under Julian Nagelsmann, but Kroos and Neuer are both undisputed starters.
Ilkay Gündogan, midfielder from Barcelona, ranks seventh in least value (15 million euros), approximately $16.8 million, while Antonio Rüdiger, center-back from Real Madrid, is twelfth on the list with a value of 25 million euros, approximately $28 million. Additionally, Kai Havertz, forward from Arsenal and a regular starter for Germany, is the third most valued at 70 million euros, approximately $78.4 million.
