James McAvoy’s new psychological horror thriller Speak No Evil is new in theaters. How soon will it be available to watch at home?

Playing in Thursday previews and opening in theaters nationwide on Friday, Speak No Evil stars Mackenzie Davis and Scoot McNairy as Louise and Ben Dalton, a U.S. couple who along with their young daughter, Agnes (Alix West Lefler) travel from their new home in London to a weeklong getaway in Italy.

While vacationing, the Daltons meet Paddy (McAvoy), Ciara (Aisling Franciosi) and their young son, Ant (Daniel Hough), and the families become fast friends.

Even though the Daltons have only known the seemingly fun-loving British family for a week, they accept an invitation from Paddy to come stay with his family at their idyllic farm that’s tucked away deep in the English countryside. Before too long, though, the Daltons’ hosts start acting strangely and soon discover that they have sinister plans for their guests.

Right now, the only way you can see Speak No Evil is in theaters, so check your local listings for showtimes. Eventually, Speak No Evil—which is being released by Universal Pictures—will be available to stream on Peacock, since the NBC Universal streaming service is the first to host all Universal releases on streaming video on demand.

Before Speak No Evil comes to Peacock, however, the first opportunity viewers will get to see the movie online will be on digital streaming via premium video on demand. PVOD titles typically can be purchased for anywhere between $24.99 to $29.99 or can be rented for anywhere from $19.99 to $24.99 for 48 hours on a variety of digital platforms, including Prime Video, AppleTV+ and VUDU.

Speak No Evil’s digital streaming debut will largely depend on how well the movie performs in theaters. Heading into the weekend, Variety projects Speak No Evil make $10 million against a production budget of $15 million before prints and advertising costs.

With a solid opening like that, it’s unlikely that Speak No Evil will appear as early as Universal’s summer box office disappointment The Fall Guy. A big-budget action comedy starring Ryan Gosling and Emily Blunt, The Fall Guy debuted on PVOD on May 21, a mere 18 days after its theatrical debut on May 3.

In all likelihood, Speak No Evil—unless the film surprisingly gets some legs at the box office—will follow a release pattern similar to Universal’s big-budget blockbuster Twisters. The Glen Powell and Daisy Edgar-Jones action adventure had a much better opening when it debuted in theaters on July 17 and pivoted to PVOD on August 13.

Following Twisters’ release pattern—which was about three and a half weeks from the time the film opened in theaters to digital streaming—viewers may be able to stream Speak No Evil anywhere between October 8 and October 11, since PVOD titles are typically released on Tuesdays or Fridays.

When Will ‘Speak No Evil’ Debut On Peacock?

While Speak No Evil’s PVOD release pattern will be driven by how well the film does in theaters, the film’s arrival on streaming video on demand on Peacock should follow a standard release pattern that Universal Pictures employs.

Typically, it takes 90 days from the day a Universal film opens in theaters to the time it debuts on Peacock. For example, the studio’s vampire thriller Abigail—which debuted in theaters on April 19—made its SVOD debut on Peacock on Friday, July 19.

Using the same release pattern, viewers may be able to stream Speak No Evil on Peacock anywhere from November 12 to November 15 since SVOD releases tend to be released on Tuesdays and Fridays.

In order to watch a film on Peacock, you must be a subscriber to the NBC Universal streaming service.

Rated R, Speak No Evil—which is written and directed by James Watkins—plays in previews Thursday night before opening in theaters nationwide on Friday.
