Many users are experiencing difficulties sending messages. Downdetector, a monitoring platform, has received reports from over 6,700 users at its peak time around 10:30 PM IST encountering errors. Issues also include problems signing into the platform.

As per the Downdetector platform, nearly half of the users, about 49 per cent, are encountering trouble sending messages. Additionally, 30 per cent are facing app-related issues, while the remaining users are struggling with login problems. The report reveals widespread errors across several regions in India, including Delhi, Lucknow, Patna, Jaipur, Kolkata, Mumbai, Chennai, Ahmedabad, Bengaluru, and Madurai. Affected users are unable to send messages, and their status on the platform has shifted from 'online' to 'Connecting'.

The Telegram outage came just a date after the release of more than 15 new features by WhatsApp-rival Telegram. Users can now explore recommended channels and easily manage their profiles, including pinning stories and adjusting privacy settings. Additionally, birthdays can be added to profiles, complete with animated greetings and reminders for friends' special days. Channels can now be showcased on user profiles, while collectable usernames offer trading options.

Sharing live locations indefinitely is now possible, and reaction notifications and profile pictures in forwarded messages enhance communication. Premium features include animated emojis in polls, hiding ads, and viewing stories anonymously. Group admins benefit from mass moderation options and improved recent actions viewing. Moreover, Telegram Desktop now supports Instant View for websites, and channel owners can earn rewards from ad revenue.
