Tesla starts delivering Cybertruck

US electric vehicle maker Tesla has started delivering its much-hyped and long-delayed electric pick-up, the Cybertruck.

The company held an event at its Texas headquarters to celebrate the first shipment of the vehicle, which has divided opinions with its futuristic design.

Tesla is selling the cheapest version of the Cybertruck for about 61 thousand dollars. The company says this model can get around 400 kilometers to a charge.

CEO Elon Musk says the Cybertruck's unique design has made it difficult to scale up production at affordable prices.

Tesla initially planned to roll out the vehicle in 2021, but had to delay the release.
