Thiago Alcântara has announced his retirement from professional football at the age of 33, a decision driven by the constant injuries he has suffered in recent years.

During the 2023-2024 season alone, the Spanish midfielder played only five minutes, which occurred in Liverpool's match against Arsenal, where Thiago once again sustained a muscle injury.

Thiago's contract with the English club expired on June 30. Through social media, the player expressed his gratitude: "Thank you, football. And to everyone who accompanied me and made me a better player and person along the way. See you soon."

Thiago debuted with Barcelona, the club where he was trained but where he couldn't secure a regular spot. He then moved to Bayern Munich, where he stayed for seven years (2013-2020). He concluded his career at Liverpool.

Throughout his career, he won two Champions League titles, 11 league titles, and two Club World Cups. He also recorded a total of 48 goals and 62 assists in 480 appearances.
