Wedding bells rang out across Hertfordshire this weekend, as Talulah Riley and Thomas Brodie-Sangster celebrated their marriage. In a quaint village ceremony, the 38-year-old St Trinian’s star tied the knot with the actor who is best known for playing the lovesick child Sam in Love Actually.

The pair, who had been dating for two years before they announced their engagement in July 2023, looked very much in love as they emerged from St George’s Church in Anstey, Herts. But this is not the first time Talulah Riley has said the words ‘I do’. She’s been hitched to Tesla and Space X CEO billionaire Elon Musk twice already – they got married for the first time in 2010, before Musk filed for divorce in 2012. They remarried again in 2013 with Riley later saying they had decided to get back together at the divorce filing.

They finally split for good in 2016. And Riley might be hoping for a less rocky relationship with her new husband, whom she met on the set of the Disney+ mini series Pistol in 2021. To marry her 34-year-old beau, she wore a simple white satin gown with demure spaghetti straps, pairing it with a delicate veil.

Their future, so far, seems rosy. They revealed their engagement on Riley’s ex’s social media site X (formerly known as Twitter) last year. Brodie-Sangster shared a picture of the loved up couple on a gondola with his fiancé sporting a diamond ring, accompanied by the caption ‘Happy to announce that Talulah and I are engaged. Love is all around X,’ - a reference to the lyric sung by Bill Nighy’s character in Love Actually.

The pair have chosen to keep their relationship largely private, but Riley did open up about how she fell for Brodie-Sangster in an interview with The Times in May 2022.

She said, ‘We hadn’t really acknowledged each other as a romantic possibility or potential until the moment that we both did. And it was the same moment a number of months after having worked together and been good friends.’

Musk seems to have put the difficulties of his divorce with Riley behind him, reaching out to her at the time of her engagement announcement to share his ‘congratulations’ with a red heart emoji. Riley has even described Musk as ‘the perfect ex-husband’ in the acknowledgements of her book, The Quickening Riley.

There were several marquees, fairground rides, including a merry-go-round and a helter-skelter at Brodie-Sangster and Riley’s big day. One bystander described the couple's entrance to The Sun, 'Thomas walked from the house to the church and Talulah arrived in a horse-drawn carriage…

‘There was a dog who was part of the wedding party, with a box and ribbon on its back, so I think it was the couple’s ring bearer.’

This quirky bridal party is perhaps no surprise from Riley who is known to buck the Hollywood stereotype. The ex-Cheltenham Ladies College pupil does not believe in sex before marriage and swore off booze from the age of 12.

Although Riley found fame in blockbuster movies – including the 2005 film Pride and Prejudice, acting was never the career her parents wanted her to follow. She said of her parents – Doug Milburn – a top cop turned screenwriter and Una Riley a PR and business management firm owner that ‘they were happy for me to have a go at acting but encouraged me to stay in school and take my A level exams.’
