Toni Kroos, who announced his retirement from football at the end of the season, was the focal point of an emotional farewell at his final match with Real Madrid at the Santiago Bernabéu. The entire stadium paid homage to the German midfielder, who was honored with a guard of honor by both his teammates and the opposing team, Real Betis.

The entire Real Madrid squad donned shirts with Kroos' number 8 on the back and joined Betis in forming a guard of honor for the outgoing La Liga champion. As Kroos emerged onto the field, the Bernabéu crowd stood in ovation.

A giant banner in the south end of the stadium featured Kroos' image along with the 22 titles he has won with Real Madrid, with a side banner reading: "Thank you, legend."

Known for his modesty, Kroos managed to hold back his emotions as he walked through the guard of honor and acknowledged the crowd's applause. After crossing the guard of honor, he requested that the heartfelt tribute come to an end. The Bernabéu echoed with chants of "Toni, Toni Kroos....Kroos," as the grateful fans paid their respects to one of the club's legends after a decade of success.
